Preschool for 2 Year Olds

For many of the children, this is their first experience away from Mom and Dad. Our focus is on learning to follow directions from someone other than mom and dad, as well as learning to share and wait our turn. Beginning Math, Language & Literacy, Nature and Science, Art and Music concepts are introduced through play. This program uses Creative Curriculum as the teachers’ guide.

Our 2’s program is for children 2 years old by September 1st. There are nine children in a class with a Lead Teacher and a Teaching Assistant.

Meet Our 2’s Teachers

Hollie Richards

Mrs. Richards

Hollie Richards joined Asbury Community Christian Preschool in 2015 as a lead teacher. She has the privilege of teaching two year old children three mornings a week (M/W AM and F AM). Additionally, she serves as a Lunch Bunch facilitator in the extended 4-day, 4 year old program a few days a week. You may even find her elsewhere because sometimes she is simply “where she is needed most” and an occasional substitute. When she came aboard, she was already familiar with Asbury – Her three children attended the school, she was a substitute two years prior to becoming a lead teacher, and is a member of the church. Before teaching at Asbury, she took a break from teaching to be home with her children after teaching a variety of elementary levels for nine years in the public school system in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. Her education includes a Bachelor’s Degree and a Masters in Arts of Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh and coursework in early childhood education from Anne Arundel Community College. When she is not at Asbury church or preschool, she enjoys day trips with her immediate family to historical sites, nature hikes, book club, Bible study group, and spending time with her extended family. Her top-priority as a teacher is to treat each child with respect and compassion. She also focuses on child-centered activities, learning through play, and building strong partnerships with her students’ families. She finds it a true honor to be a part of the exceptionally caring, professional, and dedicated staff at Asbury.
